Project Description

A hidden house in the conservation area, Winterbourne Stickland, Dorset.

The project evolved following a previous outline approval and was conceived as a subterranean dwelling, built into a steep bank to create a secluded house looking out over a southwest facing garden.

The site lies close to the setting of a listed Malthouse and Conservation Area. Therefore the new house was designed to be hidden in the landscape and not visible from the neighbouring buildings. The new house uses its elevated location as a huge advantage, and makes the most of natural light and panoramic views.
