With all principal rooms facing south, this is a great example of an 'upside down' house. The headmaster's accommodation is on the first and second floor to take advantage of the views with direct access onto a timber deck on stilts. The raised platform extends the living and amenity space and takes advantage of the summer sun.
Internally the first floor rooms can be overlooked from the mezzanines and bridges within the roofspace, creating a unique open space, whilst retaining its charm and warmth by use of stone and timber within the interior.
The office, visitor’s accommodation and reception room were placed at ground level.
The furniture was specially designed for the house and made in Africa.
