Once a historic chapel, this property was developed into a residence in 2011. Western Design Architects were then appointed in 2014 to extend the converted chapel residence with a two storey timber extension and a glass link. The two storey extension has been sensitively considered to be contemporary yet sympathetic in terms of materials and style in relation to the sites history.
The new extension and garage are both clad in timber reflecting the current use of the material on the chapel between ground and first floor windows.
Spring Cottage is one of Western Design Architects’ most memorable projects owing to the prolonged negotiations endured with the local planning authority as well as several structural impediments that were unearthed during the building regulations application and construction processes.
We look forward to revisiting Spring Cottage when the landscape has been completed.
