Western Design Architects are pleased to have been granted planning permission for 14 new dwellings on Acreman Street in Cerne Abbas, Dorset.
Located partially within the Cerne Abbas Conservation Area and within the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), the existing brownfield site includes a workshop and a single dwelling, all of which will be removed to make way for 2 and 2.5 storey houses and a small number of bungalows. The scheme will make a positive contribution towards the demand for new market homes in the area and the use of natural stone, natural slate, brick and flint respects the local vernacular. Some properties on the site may even be afforded a view of the Cerne Abbas Giant
Due to the presence of existing buildings and businesses, vacant building credit (VBC) was applied and the requirement to provide affordable housing was significantly reduced.
