Western Design Architects are pleased to have obtained full planning permission for a new house located in a Conservation Area in South Cadbury near Yeovil in South Somerset.
The dilapidated existing buildings were considered to have exceeded their useful life and therefore not suitable for conversion.
The approved design proposal will replace the existing portal frame agricultural barn and stone barn with a new modern constructed home with a rural aesthetic. The buildings will have a more contemporary agricultural appearance to those they replace.
The main barn will be faced with square cut vertical treated timber cladding which will naturally silver with time. The smaller barn will be constructed of natural stone. Both with sheet roofing in keeping with the agricultural style.
Rainwater goods and flue pipes will have a galvanised finish and windows will be powder coated aluminium to provide a contemporary square edged contrast to the rubble walls in the stone barn.
The new 5 bed house will offer a delightful rural South Somerset home in walking distance from village facilities while enhancing the appearance and character of the area and encouraging modern agricultural design.
