This barn conversion makes full use of the Class Q permitted development rights to convert agricultural barns into residential properties. The application submitted to the Test Valley Borough Council was approved within the 56 day determination period.
The large 1950’s portal frame barn which was previously used to store grain, will be partly demolished with the remainder converted into three properties, each with three bedrooms and fantastic views out over the Hampshire countryside. The painted brick with vertical timber external cladding gives a contemporary appearance whilst retaining the agricultural aesthetic.
The design team worked closely with a Structural Engineer to establish how the barn could support the new dwellings, whilst close liaison with an Ecologist ensured that measures were put in place to protect and safeguard Barn Owls found in the area.
