Phase 4 Planning Approval.
Planning approval was granted under delegated powers for a Reserved Matters planning application of 68 new houses in Weymouth by Western Design Architects. This latest phase of much needed housing builds on earlier approvals for 450 houses on earlier phases of the same development at Curtis Fields.
The traditional style two and three bedroom houses are built as extension to Markham Avenue with some of the new housing responding to the architectural character and detailing of existing houses with stepped bay windows and clay tile hanging. An area of assisted living single storey bungalows at the entrance to the site ensures adjoining bungalows are not overshadowed. The development wraps around the new playing fields of St Augustine’s School which were provided as part of an earlier phase.
A 3m wide cycle route has been designed into the scheme, improving connectivity for residents living west of Lanehouse Rocks Road to the centre of Weymouth. On the higher ground, a number of houses will benefit from sea views across Weymouth Bay.
