New House in South Somerset

Planning Granted for Contemporary Rural Home

WDA are delighted to have gained planning approval at committee for a dramatic new house in a stunning rural location between Mere in Wiltshire and Wincanton in Somerset.

The new stone and timber house, partially set in the grass bank, boasts numerous sustainable features.

The principal rooms with large expanses of glass facing the long distance views are located on the first floor.  This together with a cantilevered balcony provides a perfect  sunlit spot for the clients to enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

This was a challenging application due to opposition from the parish council and a neighbour regarding overlooking and the impact to the Cranborne Chase AONB. This was overcome through our good working relationship with planning officers and following extensive discussions, WDA were able to convince them that the planning application was appropriate.

We look forward to construction starting on site in 2022.
