Planning approval was granted unanimously at Dorset Council Planning Committee for a Reserved Matters planning application of 99 new houses in Weymouth submitted by Western Design Architects. This latest phase of new housing builds on earlier approvals for 180 houses on other phases of the same development.
The traditional style two and three bedroom houses at Curtis Fields are built on land adjoining St Augustine’s School in Weymouth and will provide a new pedestrian and vehicular access into the school as the existing access via Hardy Avenue is severely congested. As well as enhancing Cockles Lane, a new 3m wide cycle link is incorporated into the site plan to improve connectivity for cyclists and pedestrians across this part of Weymouth.
In addition, a large neighbourhood equipped area of play with a multi-use games area for older children, is being provided to the southern edge of the development to improve play facilities for local children.
