Planning secured for a care home extension

WDA are happy to share that planning permission has been granted by Somerset Council for a modern brick extension to an already established care home in Taunton.

The additional accommodation will provide eight new en-suite bedrooms alongside enhanced communal and landscaped spaces for the residents.

The extension is primarily formed of a two-storey pitched-roof volume and a connecting link that fronts the street, seamlessly adjoining the existing building. Part of the existing frontage will also be refreshed with a new façade to create a cohesive architectural expression. To the rear, a single-storey green-roofed element integrates with the landscape design, strengthening the connection between building and garden.

The use of red brick, refined contemporary detailing and a considered arrangement of openings creates a harmonious relationship with the existing care home, giving the extension a complementary yet independent character.
