Western Design Architects (WDA) is committed to the continual professional development of all its staff. We achieve this through a variety of methods:
In House Seminars (CPDs)
A representative from a specialist company such as a product supplier or consultant will give a presentaion or workshop on their subject of expertise.
Tours
The team at Western Design regularly visit manufacturers, quarries and brickworks to learn more about materials and manufacturing processes.
Tutoring
Our staff regularly mentor university students. This not only helps raise the standard of their work but also enables staff to learn up to date methods of presentation, and engage in the latest software
PEDR’s
Both Part 1 and Part 2 students regularly engage in self-reflection through the form of Personal Educational Development Records.
Site Visits
Western Design staff visit site during the construction phase to improve their understanding of the building processes and site health and safety issues.
RIBA Dorset Branch
Staff are encouraged to take part in activities of the Dorset local branch. This ranges from lectures and seminars to local education events within the community.
Planning Consultations
Staff are given the opportunity to visit Local Authority hearings and public consultations in order to the learn about how the planning system works.
