WDA are delighted that our recently application to extend and remodel a bungalow in Ashley Heath near Ringwood has been granted.
The extensions to the bungalow will provide a larger, two storey family home on a spacious plot surrounded by heathland within a Special Character Area (SCA).
Additional bedrooms, an open plan living/dining/kitchen space and a replacement gym/store/garage allows for flexibility in the future.
One of the key design requirements was for the property not to appear as a two storey house when viewed from public view, with only moderate change being made to the skyline and with negligible impact on neighbouring dwellings.
The sloping contour of the site allows just this, from the street the frontage remains single storey with the new gym/garage protruding from the existing front elevation. To the rear, the building opens up to form a two storey house overlooking the garden through large floor to ceiling windows.
The design employs colours and materials that are prevalent within St Ives Park and its wider context.
Charred black timber cladding, aluminium framed windows and a dark engineering brick plinth gives a contemporary twist, resulting in a scheme that is of high quality in terms of design and local distinctiveness that will sit comfortably with its mature and sylvan setting.
