This unique sedum covered curved roofed dwelling is located in Dorset with views of downs and open countryside. WDA were appointed to work closely with the clients to fulfil their long held ambition to build their own eco home.
The clients wished for 'a house of its time', a home that was light and warm, with environmentally friendly features and large windows to capture the views.
The new build is constructed from ICF (Insulated Concrete forms) offering excellent thermal properties. The curved roof includes a large overhang for solar shading in the summer months. The sedum roof boosts biodiversity, providing habitats for insects as well as offering storm water attenuation. Photovoltaic panels add to the buildings eco credentials to produce electricity and work in hand with the installed ground souce heat pump. Importantly the green roof help the house blend into its surronundings softening the neighbours view of the house in what had been a tricky planning process.
