18 new affordable apartments in Weymouth

Great to see our newly completed apartment block on Buxton Road looking so good!

Construction is complete for this high quality contemporary apartment block in Weymouth, providing 18 affordable apartments for Sovereign Housing (now SNG).

Planning approval was granted in 2020, following extensive pre-application negotiations with the planning department to ensure it’s successful design integration into its Conservation Area setting. This included continuity of massing with adjacent villas, rhythm of windows in the façade and attention to detail, such as the artisan wrought iron balustrading.

The result is a building with a strong architectural aesthetic that draws influence from neighbouring properties. The use of buff coloured bricks replicates the existing colour palette used along the street. The brickwork combines a classic stretcher bond with bands of soldier course creating a beautiful contemporary detail. Each affordable home has access to its own balcony, finished with bespoke ironmongery.

Standing four storeys tall, the top floor features a stunning penthouse with sea views. The penthouse is set back from the front facade to reduce the building mass and facilitate a wraparound terrace.
