Sturminster Newton Leisure Centre
WDA designed a new community sports centre to serve this small market town and local schools. The environment had to be friendly, comfortable and not intimidating to encourage local people two exercise and get fit.
A low cost community facility
The environment had to be friendly, comfortable and not intimidating to encourage local people two exercise and get fit.
The brief was to provide a very low cost building which could be erected quickly, and would provide multiple facilities to allow for a wide range of leisure activities.
There is full access throughout the building for users with physical disabilities.
This building is notable for having been designed by WDA in a matter of days, due to a sudden looming deadline on the availability of government money.
Our proposals were then approved by special planning committee within two weeks of the application being submitted.
