Site Progress: Extension to a Community hall in Chickerell

Following our recent planning approval, building works are now underway on site for the new single-storey extension to Willowbed Village Hall in Chickerell, near Weymouth.

The extension, together with associated refurbishment works, will create a more flexible and welcoming facility, enabling Chickerell Town Council to host a wider range of community events and activities.

The project also includes the relocation of the access road to improve safety, alongside enhanced landscaping works. A number of energy-efficient measures are being incorporated, including LED lighting, double-glazed aluminium windows and doors. To improve accessibility and inclusivity all entrances to the building are now accessed by level approaches combined with new landscaping and seating areas.

A number of new trees and additional landscaping around the wider site enables the project to achieve the Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) requirements. Ecology is also enhanced with new swallow cups, bat tubes and bee bricks.

We are working closely with our client, Chickerell Town Council, and the appointed main contractor, Greendale, to deliver this important community project.
