We were honoured to attend this year’s Weymouth Civic Society Awards evening, held in the historic setting of Nothe Fort — and absolutely thrilled to come away with two Commendations for our work in the town.
The first recognition was for a small collection of Portland stone and brick houses on Lanehouse Rocks Road. The Society praised the scheme as “an attractive small group of nine houses… fitting well into the street scene… with pleasantly landscaped native tree species.” They also highlighted the sustainable features, commending the development’s high energy efficiency.
Our second award was for Nicholas House on Buxton Road — a scheme of 18 affordable apartments delivered on a former brownfield site. The Society remarked that “while contemporary in design, Nicholas House respects the nearby Victorian houses in material and scale… and the development brings a greater unity of character to the local street scene.”
Founded in 1944, the Weymouth Civic Society has long worked to enhance civic life in Weymouth, Portland, and the surrounding areas — so receiving recognition from such a well-respected local organisation means a great deal to us.
A heartfelt thank you to the Society for the honour, and to photographer Andy Cooke for capturing the evening so beautifully.
